There were years of my life where I only looked in the mirror from the neck up, a casualty of being told I had a beautiful face—emphasis on the face. The rest of me I sheathed beneath masses of shapeless shifts, determined to cloak my fatness. This was a Sisyphean task. Nothing about me is small. So, I became a disembodied head floating atop a black void, desperately hoping no one else would notice the unsightly ways I took up space.
Thank you so much for your words. I felt like it was a lifeline thrown out for me to grab as I'm being carried out to sea by the violent riptide of my self criticism. I decided to grab hold to it today and let them bring me back to safety. The safety found in the love and acceptance of me. I cant say that circumstances won't cause me to be unmoored again, causing me to drift out and possibly swallowed up by loneliness or hating my flaws and all. But at least for today and in the days to come, you've given me a place of rest and peace.

CFC kept me grounded all through last year when it was recommended to me by someone on Twitter. It's been a wholesome experience reading through all the posts and comments there all through last year—it was my own coping mechanism during the early pandemic days. There were days I had wished the blog was still ongoing—which explains my joy when y'all brought us The Remix! I'm super excited for all the things y'all will be doing with The Remix.
