Thank you so much for writing this, Susana. I began therapy in 2019, and so much of the beginning sessions were about this very thing. This line here, puts it so simply, so beautifully, as a way to affirm this practice of rest and pleasure every day: "whatever I need to feel good in this body today, that takes priority."
This resonated so much with me at this point in my life. I'm sharing this with woman I know to include my 21 and 29yr old daughters.
THANK YOU for this essay. True on too many levels
This reminds of the piece y'all posted a long while ago, that I actually printed out and gave to people, printed out and posted in my office, "Survival Tips for Black Women Who Are Asked To Do Too Much." (https://www.crunkfeministcollective.com/2013/06/07/how-to-not-die-some-survival-tips-for-black-women-who-are-asked-to-do-too-much/)
