Now…..Allow Me To Reintroduce Myself
How it Started….
How it’s Going
I’m Susana. When we started the CFC back in 2010 I was 29 years old, living and working in Alabama, trying to excel at my job, reignite my creative spark, and figure out how to be grown! It was a tall order indeed. Today I’m 40, living in my adopted hometown of Atlanta, still professing, calling myself a writer, and being a grown ass woman.
The CFC has been an anchor for me, helping to find and redefine myself. I’m so thankful for my crew and for the place where I have cut my teeth and honed my craft as a writer.
My Spotify playlist has thee most random assortment of gospel music (loving Maranda Curtis right now), ratchet hip hop (Cardi, Meg, City Girls, you know), soul and neo-soul (Masego, Cleo Sol, The Internet), and podcasts (The Read, Maintenance Phase, Therapy for Black Girls). I’m a complicated lady.
These days I’m just enjoying my life as a queer femme about town (well, in these Zoom streets during the pan dulce), crunk auntie (Ti Susana luh the kids), amateur baker (mostly pound cakes), and caregiver to my mama, aka the spunkiest elder ever.
Like B mentioned last week, me, her, Chanel have a book called Feminist AF coming out this fall for the crunk youth. I’m so excited about that and other projects coming down the pike.
Looking forward to learning and growing with y’all. Thanks for staying with us!
Yours for the revolution,
Susana
