TV Director Rachel Raimist is offering an exclusive industry insider event on how to pitch yourself and nail a meeting. As both aspiring and experienced professionals know, successful meetings in “Hollywood” are key to thriving. This career coaching session will give participants insight into how to rock general meetings and best navigate opportunities from a project pitch to an internship or job interview.
The workshop will include how to:
introduce yourself and curate your life story to make a lasting impression
craft a creative and effective elevator pitch
navigate industry research and meeting prep, which are keys to success
prepare for internship interviews, job interviews and networking opportunities
impress the (Zoom) room in Hollywood’s infamous “general” meetings
best position yourself for hiring meetings (esp. for writers, directors & creatives)
tactics to avoid anxiety, stress, nerves and awkward moments in meetings
“plant seeds” and grow your networking skills and expand your network
position yourself for success in any creative careers in entertainment

About the workshop facilitator: Dr. Rachel Raimist most recently directed the season finale of FANTASY ISLAND (Fox) as well as WU-TANG: AN AMERICAN SAGA (Hulu), THE BIG LEAP (Fox), 4400 (CW), THE SEX LIVES OF COLLEGE GIRLS (HBO Max), DIARY OF A FUTURE PRESIDENT (Disney+), and THE REPUBLIC OF SARAH, NANCY DREW and ROSWELL NEW MEXICO for The CW.
Dr. Raimist believes that industry success comes when inspiration meets preparation. When she’s not on set, this formerly tenured college professor turned television director dedicates her time mentoring students and aspiring industry creatives. She has taught at NYU, Elon University, Syracuse University, Temple University, UCLA< UC Irvine, the University of Alabama, the University of Minnesota, Macalester College and Carleton College. She also teaches workshop on directing and pitching through the Sundance Labs, the Alliance of Women Directors, the Stowe Story Labs and other non-profit film and youth organizations. Dr. Raimist is active in the Latino and the Women's Steering Committee and currently serves on the Special Projects Committee of the Directors Guild of America (the DGA).
